Just like other business decisions you make, there are many issues to consider when you evaluate Human Resource Software and other employee related software.
At ELF Productivity Limited we have seen many software companies come and go over the years. We are pleased to present some of the Questions and Answers we have heard in our over 30 years in the industry.

We will take a bit of a different approach however from the typical FAQ strategy because many times the most appropriate answer is “It Depends”:
- “What are the most important factors when selecting software?” – This is actually a composite of many similar questions we hear. We believe that most business owners and senior managers ask straight forward questions because they respect our experience and are truly interested in our perspectives. At Elf Productivity Limited we will normally answer this question with a number of questions of our own! We will usually start with “why are you considering a switch from your current environment”, followed by “What do you like and dislike about your current system? What things would you like to see changed in your current environment?” Next, we like to collect demographics about the company. We of course collect as much as we can in advance but will still like to confirm things about the industry and the challenges they face, the size of the company (employees, revenue, growth, etc.), management structure, number of users, etc. We have learned over the years that the more questions we ask, the better the end result!
- “What are the up front and ongoing costs” – Unfortunately there are many software providers out there who fail to disclose all the for licensing, upgrades, etc. We are careful to explain all fees up front so there are no surprises.
- “What measures will you take to keep the project on track?” – What they are really asking is “How do I know you will finish the installation in a timely manner and for the price you initially propose?” Most buyers have heard the horror stories of computer projects that go over budget and are not completed on time. At ELF Productivity Limited we work hard to understand all the details about a project in advance and then manage the expectations and details to deliver the project on time and within the agreed upon budget. We regularly communicate with everyone involved because again, nobody likes surprises.
- “What kind of training do you provide?” – We like this question and always stress our belief that the success of the project is highly dependent upon on the full cooperation of everyone involved. We are strong advocates of up front and ongoing training on the use of our solutions.
- Can I create customized reports? – Yes. All of our solutions include a report writer that allows you to create whatever reports you need.
- How long have you been in business? – ELF Productivity Limited has been in business since 1982.
